He's sexy, he's single, and he adores British women. Gossip Girl's Chace Crawford reveals what he's looking for in love.

So ... what do you appreciate in a woman?
"I like extroverted girls with a good sense of humour, and I like British girls because they're polite, and I like the accent too. My turn-offs? If a girl comes on too strong or gets sloppy drunk and looks a mess, that's never good."

Do you believe in love at first sight?
"I do. There's an instant response you get when you see someone special. You have to act on it. I've experienced it, and I love that feeling."

How do you feel about one-night stands?
"I'm not keen. It makes you wary of people's intentions. You've got to meet them through friends or someone you trust. I like to get to know a girl first - it's good to have a casual friendship and have fun."

You sound quite the romantic ...
"Being romantic is subjective. I think it's more about being creative; going outside the box. I don't do anything formal but I love to draw pictures for a girl, or take her to a concert. I don't do cheesy chat-up lines."

Your character in Gossip Girl, Nate, gets back together with his first love. Do you still have a place in your heart for yours?
"I do actually. I don't know what your capacity for love really is at such a young age - it's so much more innocent and pure. You always remember your first. We're still good friends now."

Nate dated an older woman. Would you?
"I'm not opposed to dating above my age but in the world of Gossip Girl everything is over the top. I'm not like any of the characters really. I have more of a sense of humour, I'd like to think."

You've just moved into your own place. Is there anything you'd hide under your bed if we were coming over?
"Yeah all my stuffed animals and my stacks of Cosmo! [Laughs] No, not really. I have like a bit of obsessive compulsive issue with the placement of things, actually. I have a cleaning lady who comes over every two weeks, but she doesn't really need to."

Who'd win in an arm wrestle tournament between you, Robert Pattinson and Zac Efron?
"Bring it on! Can I use two hands? I reckon I could hold my own then. I could get R-Patz maybe but then he'd just bite the crap out of my hand!"

Do your family and friends rib you for being a teenage pin-up?
"Absolutely. I was just in Dallas where I grew up and they gave me a hard time. I expect nothing less, though I'd do the same thing to them, so they keep me grounded and slap me around a bit!"

Is there anything that confuses you about women?
"It's funny when you try to cover up if something's wrong, I say 'What is it? You want to talk?' And you're like, 'No, nothing's wrong.' But you're behaving as though something is obviously wrong, like chopping the carrots really hard with your knife and looking at us! I wish you'd be more open sometimes."
